Lauren and I love shooting Engagement Sessions with our Wedding clients because for one, we get to totally break the ice with the couple and two, they get to break the ice with our cameras! =)  It's never easy being yourself with 4-5 gimongous cameras in your face so to us, it's always better they see it before the wedding than during =)  So when it was Dina+Chris' turn, not only did they eventually get used to the cameras, but we got to see and capture a side of them that reminds us why we do what we do. dinachrisengaged_1437.jpg That picture is one of my favorite shots of the entire shoot.  It was taken towards the later part of the shoot and for me, it was literally the climax of one of our most fun and rewarding sessions yet.  As I was saying, Dina+Chris are one of the most gentle couples we know and that shot to me, absolutely shows it.  What makes this one of my favorite shots is that you don't have to see Dina's eyes in that picture to tell how safe, secure and in love she is with Chris. You don't need to see what's happening around them because she's safe and at specific moment, engulfed in Chris' arms...nothing else matters.  For Chris, his non expression, is expression enough.  I can't tell you how excited I was to have caught that moment! =) These last two shots top off, as we said, one of our most fun and rewarding sessions yet! dinachrisengaged_1457.jpg A fun ring shot that we go heading back to the car... dinachrisengaged_1465.jpg To Dina+Chris...it was a privilege being able to capture the emotion and love you guys share for each other.  You guys were awesome and we hope that you enjoy your slideshow as much as enjoyed capturing it on camera. *****CLICK HERE FOR DINA+CHRIS' SLIDESHOW***** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't forget! Our "Great Names Derived From Great Inspiration" contest is under way and you have till Dec 1st submit your entries to Contest@johnlauren.com.  The winner will receive a $100 restaurant GC! OK, so John's totally going to hate me for this one but I HAVE to share!!  It's Monday and we all need a little laugh to start our week! Sorry honey!! =) hahaha

So, we had an engagement shoot in the lovely Old Town Pasadena and we had such a great time! we had our new assistant with us, teaching her new things with the camera and getting a feel for posing and how John composes the couple for the shoot.

John is very admitate about me being the "Front Man" for the business, but I get so nervous, I kind of just stand back and let John do all the talking while I get in the zone the way I am used too, by getting a feel for the couple, and when I feel like I am getting a connection through the lens, then I am more vocal. Sometimes, I kind of walk around and scope out the area while John is with the clients.

Well, when you see the slide show of their awesome engagement session, you will see the cool spot I found! Literally, it was perfect!!! It was snooping at its best. No other word can describe the location. Just wait :) But as I turned back to John and the awesome couple to tell them of the cool spot, I can't help but think, what the heck is he doing!!! I was laughing so hard from a distance...

You may not know this, but when John is in the zone, he is so in the zone!

jp_pose1.jpg

Seriously, does he have to get that close? Isn't that why we have a 70-200? OH, but he gets even closer!

jp_pose.jpg

I finally have to walk up to them and get one up close, cause really, those shots didn't really show any justice of the yoga pose that was happening!!!

jp-pose2.jpg

I was laughing so hard, I almost pee-ed my pants, and being pregnant, it was so possible too!!! This was rip your pants material!!!

I really can't wait for all of you to see the finished product! It was our very first early morning shoot, and is probably my favorite time of the day to shoot. It wasn't hot, not crowded, no sun beating down on us. I really enjoyed it!  I love you babe! hehe =)

PART 1 : Q&A Yesterday we had some awesomeness chatting with a Bride to be and during our conversation like we always do, we dropped the super put you on the spot question..."do you have any questions for us? Well it got me thinking about when we booked Me Ra for our wedding and boy did we have questions!  We ended up on the phone with her for over an hour!  And get this...we've never even seen or met or even spoke before! hahah.  Me Ra actually put a funny post of when we first spoke on her blog...check it out. With that said, I wanted to throw this same question out there for anyone of you that keep up with our life...I mean business (Lauren loves to write about anything and everything!) through our blog.  So if you've got questions like..."how's Lauren feeling?", "what's she look like now?" ask away!  Oh and yeah, if you want to ask some photography questions, you can do that too =) With that let me shift gears and talk about Linda+Dennis Part II, the second part of the today's post. Before we drop engagement slideshowness on you all I couldn't help but give a few more sneak peaks of some of my favorite shots of the day... We found this one green door towards the back of the Observatory that actually was indented from the wall about a foot...we love funky "one off" doorways =) _mg_6538.jpg I think if I had to pick any one shot to keep, it would be this one...the sun came in at a perfect spot over their heads and her eyes are almost piercing...add that to a sort of antique look...there you have it, my favorite image of the day. _mg_6580.jpg Keeping up with the modern architecture of this part of the Observatory, I took a more modern approach in processing this shot compared to the one above.  Like seriously, you can't go wrong shooting in a semi-empty hallway with glass walls towering 2o feet above you...how sweet is that?! _mg_6639.jpg For engagement slideshowness ***Click Here*** Don't forget to leave a comment or questions and we'll try to give you an answer! Happy Tuesday everyone!

Last week we got to hang with Linda+Dennis at the Griffith Park Observatory for their portrait/engagement session...a place that's been frequented by us about as many times as we've climbed Everest, so you can imagine how stoked we were to finally make our way up the hill and peep out the view.  It was definitely hot that day and we ran into a crowded Observatory but we still a blast.  We started the day with a few casual shots... _mg_6335.jpg and ended the day rockin something a little more formal... _mg_6492.jpg One of the things that we love about Linda+Dennis is that they both come from different cultures...if you couldn't tell by shot above, Linda's Chinese (rockin' the red!) and Dennis is Filipino (rockin' what we call a Barong Tagalog - it's the Filipino version of a formal American suit made of super light weight fabric).  To honor both traditions, Linda+Dennis are going to have this awesome whole day event of a wedding that starts with an all decked out traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony followed by a traditional American ceremony at a near by church.  Is that sick or what?!  It's going to be a sweet day of awesome picture galore that we can't wait to shoot! Here's another one of my favorites that Lauren captured for two reasons...remember the Barong Tagalog?  I love how you can see just how super thinly woven the Barong actually was with all the sunlight in behind him.  Second reason...don't you love how the Linda's ring almost pops out of the picture =)  If you couldn't tell, we love natural light and every time we shoot, we try to use the sun as much as we can!! =) _mg_6544.jpg As for the slideshow, it's just about done so don't forget to check back in tomorrow when it goes up!  Think of these shots as a little appetizer! =) Linda+Dennis - you guys rock and we can't wait for your big day!

We've known Darcy and JJ for a few years now and when we heard that they were finally getting married we thought..."how awesome would that be to shoot their wedding!" Long story short...we are and we're super excited and honored to be shooting it for them! **To skip straight to the slideshow, click on anyone of the pictures** One of the reasons why we were hoping to shoot their wedding was because we knew they're style was right up our alley. And as most of you know, Lauren and I did our engagement shoot in an alley also so we felt right at home =) Even though it wasn't in Santa Monica like ours was, we found somewhere just as cool if not cooler in a place called Downtown Pomona.

Aren't those bikes the craziest and coolest bikes you've ever seen??!! When they pulled up and showed us the bikes we knew this was going to be a super fun time. We even put a little surprise at the end of the slideshow...something we've never done before. =) Here are more of some of our favorites...

Here's one that Lauren caught of me in action..haha. Our friends from Red5studios also came along because believe it or not, they're putting together a little promo video for us!! Woohoo!! Thanks Loyd! Check out their site...it's awesome (My favorite is the Napoleon Dynamite spoof!).

_mg_2135.jpg

One of the things we learned on this shoot was that some of the coolest places to are sometimes places you pass by everyday without noticing. That field that we were is on the side of a road we taken to church every Sunday for the past who knows how long! Thanks honey for spotting this one out!! =) Darcy and JJ, thanks so much in believing in us and our work. We had such a blast hanging out with you both and can't wait for your wedding!! =) We hope you love the pictures because we had a blast shooting them! We love you guys =) **If you didn't get the note above, clicking on any one of the pictures gets you to our slideshow!**
